They say all revolutions are born in cafes. Voltaire and Rousseau met so frequently at Café Procope that they sparked the Enlightenment. And the call to storm the Bastille, which ignited the French Revolution? That was made at Café de Foy! Lumiocco’s beginnings were more humble – during a coffee break, but still... ;-) Soy latte and that dreadful word Two years ago, Radek, the head of investments at Kanlux, said to Marta, the marketing director, during a coffee break: "You know there's a word that interior architects absolutely hate? It's ‘compromise.’ They’re allergic to it. And I get it. These are people who can take any space and turn it into something extraordinary, yet they constantly hear: ‘It’s not possible,’ ‘It needs to be different,’ ‘The design is nice, but...’." With coffee cups in hand, they walked to the desk and started... They began crafting a concept that would free interior architects from that dreaded word, compromise. And so, the offer of lighting that is both FLEXIBLE and PRECISE was born. After weeks of preparation, when everything was ready, they presented the concept to the board, got the green light, and then... we all felt a bit apprehensive :) Lumiocco was born Today, two years later, we’re no longer apprehensive. We are genuinely happy that Lumiocco is now appreciated by interior architects, has its first implementations, and is built by a team that has believed in one thing from the start: its mission. Architect, you create – we illuminate. PS – If you fancy a coffee and a conversation where THAT word won’t be mentioned, Tom’s waiting for your call: 695 003 472
